Abstract

Poetry is probably the literary genre less taught among Primary and Secondary teachers since it is considered to be difficult, obscure, indecipherable, no matter what age group students may belong to. However, some of the contemporary poetry specifically written for children and young adults can result in a rewarding experience that counteracts this prejudice. This talk is, therefore, an invitation to enjoy the aesthetic qualities of Children’s and YA poetry, to revel in the depth of its themes, and to suggest didactic resources that may turn the teaching of this genre into a more pleasant and reachable activity.
